HAVERHILL -- Rita J. (Crandall) Hanna, a lifelong Haverhill resident, died last Friday at Boston Medical Center. She was 82.
Born in Haverhill, Mrs. Hanna graduated from Haverhill High School in 1943.
Prior to her retirement in 1980, Mrs. Hanna was employed at Lucent Technologies Inc. in North Andover.
She was an avid gardener who also liked to collect antique china.
Mrs. Hanna leaves two sons, James E. of Haverhill and Michael H. of Averill Park, N.Y.; a brother, Robert Crandall of Salisbury; a sister, Jacqueline LaBranche of Merrimac; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the wife of the late Henry J., who died in 1995.
A funeral Mass was to be said yesterday in St. John the Baptist Church, Haverhill, with burial in Linwood Cemetery.
Robert Carroll, 84, Peabody welder
PEABODY -- Robert W. Carroll, a retired welder and a World War II Army veteran, died last Thursday at Harborside Cedar Glen in Danvers. He was 84.
Born in Essex, Mr. Carroll was raised and educated in the town.
For many years, Mr. Carroll worked as a certified welder.
He had lived in Peabody for the past 40 years.
Mr. Carroll leaves a daughter, Carol Dion of Danvers; a son, Frank E. of Alamogordo, N.M.; a sister, Irene Bowman of Essex; a brother, Daniel of California; six grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the husband of the late Gloria M. (Bealieu).
A funeral service was held Tuesday. Burial was in Annunciation Cemetery, Danvers.
Elinor Laudin, 91, ex-school secretary
MELROSE -- Elinor (Giles) Laudin, a lifelong Melrose resident, died Sunday at Epoch Senior Healthcare of Melrose. She was 91.
Born in Melrose, Mrs. Laudin graduated from Melrose High School in 1933.
From 1960 to 1984, she was employed as a secretary for the Melrose school district, and was the secretary to the director of parent-pupil services when she retired.
She was a member of the Melrose Mothers Club, Melrose Arts and Crafts, and Kappa Delta Psi.
Mrs. Laudin leaves a daughter, Elizabeth Anne of Melrose; a son, Brooks A.; and three grandchildren. She was the wife of the late Fred W.
A funeral service was held Tuesday. Burial was in Wyoming Cemetery.![]()
