SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—The first graduating class for Renaissance School has become the first from a public high school in Springfield to have all of its graduates accepted into colleges.
School Superintendent Alan J. Ingram tells the Republican newspaper that the 77 graduates defied the notion that poor kids can't learn.
Ingram said the Renaissance graduating seniors had "some of the very best teachers in the city" and together earned $2.1 million in scholarship money for college.
The students have been accepted into colleges that include Mount Holyoke College, Tufts University, Hampshire College, Macalester College and Smith College.![]()
