ENFIELD, Conn.—An Enfield High School technology teacher is facing a sexual assault charge after court records say he spanked a student in his class.

Francis Hajosy was arraigned Wednesday in Superior court and was released on $5,000 bail.

According to court documents, the 54-year-old Stafford resident approached a visiting female student who was sitting in the class with her feet up on a desk.

Court documents said after the student picked up a can of "spray glue" and sprayed it into the air, Hajosy spanked the student four times.

A Superior Court judge Wednesday issued a protective order against Hajosy, who has been suspended with pay.

His attorney, Stephen McElleney, said the protective order was not a reflection of guilt or innocence.

Hajosy is due back in court Aug. 13.
