Santa was allowed to visit Saugus classrooms yesterday, after the superintendent of schools relented on an earlier edict that the visits ran afoul of school committee policy. The longstanding tradition of firefighters dressing as Santa and visiting Saugus schools almost came to an end this year after School Superintendent Richard Langlois decided the visits violated a policy banning the observance of religious holidays. But after public outcry, Langlois reversed his decision Monday, on the advice of school committee head Wendy L. Reed.
