Massachusetts today was granted an exemption from the federal No Child Left Behind law, a move that the state sought as a way to give educators flexibility needed to target improvements at troubled schools. The decision by the Obama administration is expected to be publicly announced later today, but an Patrick administration official confirmed that Massachusetts is one of just 10 states granted the waiver.
