40th annual NH math competition draws nearly 600

PLYMOUTH, N.H.—For nearly 600 high school students in New Hampshire, March Madness means math.
Students from 52 schools across the state were at Plymouth State University on Tuesday for the 40th annual New Hampshire High School Mathematics Competition.
Sponsored by the University System of New Hampshire and high school math teachers, the competition includes challenges in six categories, including algebra, geometry and advanced mathematics.
Nashua High School South took top honors in the large school category. Hollis-Brookline High School won in the intermediate category, Oyster River High School won the medium category and Portsmouth Christian High School won in the small school category.
