NORWICH, Conn.—A former history teacher at an all-girls Catholic high school in eastern Connecticut has pleaded not guilty to a felony for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a 14-year-old student.

Thirty-year-old Robert Pfeiffer of Hebron pleaded not guilty to risk of injury to a minor Thursday in Norwich Superior Court, and his case was continued to May 21. He's free on $50,000 bail.

State police say Pfeiffer resigned from The Academy of the Holy Family in Sprague in April 2010, after friends of the girl saw the texts and threatened to report him.

State police say Pfeiffer also had a late-night rendezvous with the girl and her friend in the basement of a school building, and the girl rejected Pfeiffer's attempt to make her touch him.
