Contemplating a job switch? Hopefully you are female, over 40, and already employed because according to a recent study, those middle aged women are just what companies are looking for.
The study, which was released by Jobvite Tuesday, explored who companies are most likely to hire. The authors polled jobseekers to discover which people companies deemed most desirable and classified the people who could change jobs on a whim as high-mobility workers.
High-mobility jobseekers were predominantly female. Most earned more than $50,000 every year. Almost half, about 46 percent, took home more than $100,000 every year. They were often over 40 years along and had almost all graduated from college and were already employed.
The study also looked at lowest mobility jobseekers and found that they were almost the polar opposite.
People who can rarely find a new job, the low mobility jobseekers, were 57 percent male. Many, about 62 percent, were over forty. They generally only had a high school diploma. A significant percentage earned less than $25,000 per year.
It also looks like people who stay at the same company for an extended period of time have a better chance of getting a job. People who stayed at a company for more than ten years had the highest percentage of high mobility workers.
The study also included a section about how social media facilitates the job search. It found that most people—86 percent—rated Facebook as the best professional network to find a job. The people who had the highest mobility, however, said that LinkedIn was most useful.
