One man is dead and another injured after a shooting on Clarkwood Street in Mattapan early today.

Boston Police said they found an unidentified man in his late teens or early 20s suffering from apparent gunshot wounds when they responded to a report of shots fired about 12:40 a.m. He was transported to Brigham and Women's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 1:36 a.m.

The second victim, found suffering from trauma, was transported to Boston Medical Center. Officials say his injuries are non-life threatening.

For several hours, police surrounded a house on Clarkwood thinking a suspect was barricaded inside the house, but when officers entered the house, they did not find anyone.

No arrests have been made.

Meanwhile, detectives are investigating another homicide in Mattapan that occurred Monday night. Police said a man was stabbed on Hosmer Street about 10:05 p.m. He was taken to Boston Medical Center, where he later died.

No suspects have been arrested in that case and no other details were released on the attack.
