Woman charged in burned body case

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. -- The woman accused of murdering a man on her New Hampshire horse farm and then incinerating the body was formally charged with first-degree murder this morning.
Sheila LaBarre, 47, did not speak as she was led in handcuffs into a Portsmouth District courtroom. She looked straight ahead as relatives of her alleged victim, Kenneth Countie, 24, held up pictures of him and stared at her.
Countie had recently moved from Wilmington, Mass., to LaBarre's farm. His family reported missing March 23.
Meanwhile, investigators continued searching her horse farm in Epping, N.H.
"Right now the only charge pending is the first-degree murder charge," said Assistant Attorney General Peter Odom. "We're going to let he evidence take us where it will."
