Boston police probe apparent homicide

Boston Police are investigating the shooting death of a 23-year-old man in Dorchester early this morning.

The man was found shot in the right side of his body at about 1:30 a.m. on a porch on West Tremlett Street. If the death is confirmed as a homicide, it would be the 22nd this year.

Boston is near the pace to match the 75 homicides last year, the most in a decade. The number of shootings is also up markedly so far this year.
