Framingham man arraigned in slayings of wife, stepson

FRAMINGHAM -- Jeremias Bins resented how much time his wife had been spending at her Mormon church and with his 11-year-old stepson before he bludgeoned them to death, a prosecutor said today.
A not guilty plea to two charges of murder was entered on behalf of Bins, 30, who was ordered held without bail. He kept his head down as Middlesex Assistant District Attorney Lee Hettinger described the slayings Saturday night of Carla Souza, 37, and Caique Souza.
Souza called 911 asking police to rush to their Framingham apartment because she was having trouble with Bins. He allegedly hit Carla Souza in the back of the head with a hammer that he then turned on her son, Hettinger said. The two victims died later of their injuries. Early Sunday, Bins voluntarily went to the police station with the 5-month-old son he had with Souza.
Souza has been a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for about eight years and had been attending a Portuguese-language congregation in Framingham, a church official has said.
