PEABODY - A 76-year-old Peabody woman was beaten by two men who broke into her home early today, Peabody police said. The woman escaped her attackers who had blackened her right eye, scratched her face, and held her at knife point, according to her son Fred Lisk.

Peabody Police Chief Robert. L. Champagne told reporters the armed home invasion was not a random act. He said the suspects "had a relationship" with someone other than the elderly woman who lived in the house on Daniel Terrace in South Peabody.

Police identified the suspects as Richard Turner, 19, of Beverly and Joshua Geggatt, 21, of Danvers. They are charged with armed robbery, resisting arrest, home invasion, and assault to rob a person over 60 years, police said.

The two men were scheduled to be arraigned in Peabody District Court today. Police said the victim escaped from her attackers and ran to a neighbors house where police were called.

The son said his mom, Wanda, is expected to be released from a Lynn Hospital later today.

The two men were captured by police with the help of a K9 dog in the marshy area near the Daniel Terrace home, police said.
