A Boston police officer suffered minor injuries Tuesday night when his cruiser was struck at the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Glenway Street as he pursued a motorist who ran a red light.

The officer, whose name is not being released, saw a vehicle go through a red light at the intersection of Columbia Road and Blue Hill Avenue, police said today. He began to follow the vehicle until his cruiser was struck by a second vehicle at 11:16 p.m.

The vehicle the officer was pursuing fled, while the officer and operator of the other vehicle were transported to Boston Medical Center to be treated for minor injuries. The accident is still under investigation and no one has been charged at this time, police said.
