The MBTA today identified the man killed Monday when he was struck by an Orange Line train as William Mufkodauz, 33, of Quincy.

T officials say that he was walking along the tracks south of the Green Street station in Jamaica Plain when he was struck by a northbound train, shutting down service for more than two hours.

It was not known why Mufkodauz was walking along the tracks, which are powered by a high-voltage third rail, said T spokesman Joe Pesaturo. He said the man's injuries were consistent with being struck by the train and coming into contact with the third rail.
