The death of a 43-year-old West Roxbury man whose body was found Sunday under a bridge near the Charles River does not appear suspicious, a spokesman for the Suffolk County District Attorney said this morning.

Two passersby spotted the body of William P. Minerva at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday near Charlesgate East and Commonwealth Avenue and called police, said spokesman Jake M. Wark. City and state police responded to the bridge, just north of the Back Bay Fens.

Emergency medical technicians pronounced Minerva dead at the scene. His last known address was with family members in West Roxbury, Wark said.

"The preliminary evidence does not suggest foul play, but we are still waiting for the results from an autopsy," Wark said.

Investigators expect results from the autopsy in the next few days.
