Coast Guard jet drops pump to flooding boat
The Coast Guard rescued seven people from an 85-foot boat Thursday night that was taking on water 30 miles south of Nantucket.
The crew aboard the New Bedford fishing vessel Venture called the Coast Guard at 7:28 p.m. when their boat began to flood and the on-board pumps failed.
An HU-25 Falcon jet from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod flew to the scene and dropped a pump to the crew.
With the flooding under control, the Venture was escorted to Buzzard's Bay. It docked safely in Fairhaven at 4:15 a.m. today.
