Police issue alert to female joggers at Jamaica Pond
By David Abel, Globe Staff
Police stepped up patrols around Jamaica Pond today after receiving a report about a young man who flashed an early morning female jogger and then slapped her backside, police said.
The incident occurred about 6:45 a.m. as the woman jogged around the pond, police said. The suspect exposed himself as he approached the woman and then hit her, they said.
When the woman threatened to call police, the man fled, police said. "The department asks individuals to exercise vigilance and to assist officers in identifying the suspect," the department said in a statement.
Police described the suspect as a tall, skinny Hispanic man in his mid 20s. He wore khaki pants and other clothing that was loose and baggy, they said.
