A suspicious device in an unattended vehicle turned out to be a harmless laptop computer, but the concern caused officials to order the evacuation of an Atlantic Avenue building as Boston police and fire responded to the scene this morning.
The device was found in the vehicle parked near South Station, Boston fire officials said. As a precaution, residents of 695 Atlantic Avenue were evacuated until the device was further examined. The scene was cleared around noon.
