Delta plane evacuated after landing at Logan because of smoke

Forty-five people had to be evacuated from a Delta jet this morning when passengers smelled smoke in the cabin moments after the plane landed at Logan International Airport.
It was not an emergency landing, but the 40 passengers and five crew members did have to exit the aircraft on inflatable slides so they could be driven to the terminal by bus, according to Massport spokesman Phil Orlandella.
One person reported wrenching their back and another injured their hip and leg during the evacuation, Orlandella said. One person was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital for treatment.
Delta flight 1908 left this morning from New York’s LaGuardia International Airport and landed at Logan without incident at 7:26 a.m., Orlandella said.
While the MD 80 aircraft was taxiing to the terminal, smoke was reported in the cabin. Officials stopped the plane on the taxiway, sent a bus, and evacuated passengers on the emergency slides.
