By April Simpson, Globe Staff
A Boston soldier was killed after she was hit by a train in Germany, Army officials said today.
Private Lena Karungi, 21, and a fellow soldier were returning from a barbecue at around 10:30 p.m. Saturday when they were struck by a train near Neckarsteinach, according to an Army press release. Both women, who were assigned to Headquarters Company, V Corps, were pronounced dead at the scene.
German and US authorities are investigating the accident. Karungi, a legal clerk, had been with the unit since July 2005. She is survived by her father, the release says.
