Mother convicted of endangering daughter

A Suffolk Superior Court jury this afternoon convicted a Hyde Park woman charged with allowing her daughter to nearly die from an untreated infection.
Deborah Robinson, 39, faces up to five years in prison when she is sentenced Oct. 26 on the felony charge of endangering the life of her then-13-year-old daughter by not seeking medical attention until the girl was seriously ill from an infection.
The jury convicted Robinson even though the daughter testified Monday that Robinson tried to get her to eat and otherwise cared for her. The daughter also rebutted prosecutors' allegations that she was in intense pain from the infection.
Earlier today, the judge replaced three members of the jury, which began deliberating Monday afternoon, after the acknowledged seeing media reports about the case, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney's office.
