New Bedford man dies in crash

Police today are investigating a car crash on Route 140 south on Thursday afternoon that killed a 67-year-old man in New Bedford.

The man, identified by police as John A. Morris of New Bedford, was driving a 1989 Volvo sedan in the right lane of Route 140 North, just south of Church Street at 4:15 p.m., police said. The Volvo hit a guard rail, bounced across the road and rammed a 2005 Ford pickup truck head on.

The driver of the pickup, John M. Carvalho, 42, of New Bedford, was rushed by ambulance to Saint Luke’s Hospital with minor injuries.
