Police search for source of heroin blamed for overdoses
By Mac Daniel, Globe Staff
Brockton Police said today they are finding it difficult to trace a potent form of heroin that was blamed on six overdoses over a period of hours last weekend.
Lieutenant John Crowley, chief of Brockton detectives, said there had been no overdoses since the string last Saturday, which he said was remarkably rare.
"Whoever is providing it I'm sure is providing it elsewhere too," he said, adding that no other agencies had contacted his department since news of the string of overdoses broke.
Police are having a tough time tracking the source of the heroin, with addicts uncooperative and no labels on the heroin packages recovered by police.
