A 47-year-old Mashpee man was killed in a wreck on Route 28 in Bourne, State Police said today.

Muhammad Sabir was killed when his 1997 Toyota Corolla was struck by a 2003 Honda CRV driven by John Ericson, 76, of Cataumet, who was traveling north on southbound Route 28 about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

Sabir was rushed to Falmouth Hospital and was later pronounced dead. Ericson suffered serious injuries and was taken to Falmouth Hospital and transferred to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

Route 28 near the crash scene, just north of Route 151, was closed for three hours and the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the State Police.
