World Cup trophy tours North End and beyond

Even through the United States has never come close to winning the World Cup, the 11-pound, solid gold trophy will be in the Boston for two days this week as part of an Italian victory tour.

Italy, winner of the 2006 World Cup, lent the prize to the United States for a trip, with stops in New York, Washington, D.C., Miami, Chicago and Boston. On Wednesday and Thursday, it will be on display (under close police watch) in bars and restaurants in the North End, Chelsea, Framingham, and Revere. Here is the schedule:

Wednesday, Oct. 4:
3 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. – Strega, 379 Hanover St., Boston
4:30 - 6 p.m. – Café Graffiti, 307 Hanover St., Boston
6 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. – PM Bricco, 241 Hanover St., Boston
7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. – PM Tresca, 233 Hanover St., Boston

Thursday, Oct. 5
