Fisherman found dead off State pier in Gloucester

Gloucester and State Police are investigating an incident that led to the death of a Rhode Island fisherman in Gloucester Harbor, according to the Essex District Attorney's office.

The body of Robert Harris, 44, of Wakefield, R.I., was found this morning floating off State Fish Pier. Security video from the pier shows Harris attempting to jump 4 or 5 feet from the pier onto "Challenger," a large fishing boat he worked on, and falling 30 feet into the water.

There was no evidence of trauma and foul play is not suspected, according to the Essex district attorney's office.
