I-93 accident kills man in Quincy

A man died early this morning when police say the car he was in veered off Interstate 93 in Quincy and hit a tree.
Three people were in a 1997 BMW sedan driving south at about 1:55 a.m. when the driver apparently lost control of the car near Exit 8 at Furnace Brook Parkway, State Police said.
Police this evening identified the passenger who was killed as 22-year-old Christopher A. Tavares of Weymouth.
The driver, 22 year-old Emanuel Araujo of Weymouth, was rushed to Boston Medical Center with serious injuries. Another passenger, Michael A. Araujo, 20, of Quincy, was taken to Quincy Medical Center with minor injuries.
The crash is under investigation by the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
The two right lanes of Route 93 South were shut down for two hours and 25 minutes during the investigation.
