Pimp stays in prison for satanic slaying
By Sarah Kneezle, Globe correspondent
A pimp convicted of the 1980 satanic cult-related murder of a Fall River prostitute was denied a new trial today after the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court unanimously affirmed a lower judge's ruling, the Bristol District Attorney's Office said.
Carl Drew, 50, is serving a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole for the Westport murder and decapitation of Karen Marsden.
"Carl Drew enjoyed the full beneficence of the justice system-unlike the brutal injustice he wreaked upon Karen Marsden with the sharp edge of a blade in the woods of Westport," said Bristol District Attorney Paul F. Walsh Jr.
This was Drew's fourth attempt to overturn his jury conviction.
