Thieves crack safe in Brockton bank
By Globe Staff
The FBI is probing an overnight break-in at bank in Brockton in which suspects cracked a safe and stole a significant amount of money, authorities said.
FBI spokeswoman Gail A. Marcinkiewicz said the burglary occurred sometime after 9.00 p.m. Monday night at the Webster Bank on Oak Street.
The bandits broke-in through a window, cut open a safe, and took a VCR with a security tape.
Investigators are at the scene dusting for fingerprints and gathering other forensic evidence. No arrests have been made.
Marcinkiewicz described the haul as a "significant amount of money," but said it was less than $100,000.
