Person struck by freight train in Haverhill

A freight train struck and killed a person early this morning in Haverhill.
The person was in the middle of the tracks near Bradford Avenue when they were hit by a freight train at about 3:30 a.m., said Lydia Rivera, a spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority.
Haverhill fire and police departments did not immediately release information about the incident.
The MBTA's Haverhill commuter rail line, which uses the same tracks, ran on schedule this morning.
The person's name and age were not released. The incident remains under investigation.
