A 24-year-old man was stabbed to death overnight in the South End, police said.

Police identified the victim as John A. Austin of Boston, but released few other details about the incident and did not report making any arrests.

Investigators believe that Austin knew his killer. The pair got in a fight at about 10 p.m. on Castle Court, and Austin was stabbed in the chest. He was rushed to Boston Medical Center and pronounced dead, police said.

The stabbing death was Boston's 11th homicide this year. The city had seven homicides this time last year.

In an unrelated case in Jamaica Plain, police are investigating the discovery of skeletal remains in woods off Williams Street. The remains, which were found at 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, may have been there for months, police said.

The medical examiner has scheduled an autopsy to determine a cause of death. Police said it appears that the remains belong to a man, but person’s age has not yet been immediately determined. The Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
