Lieutenant Governor Timothy P. Murray said today that Governor Deval Patrick would continue to run the government, even as he spends more time caring for his wife.

The Patrick administration announced yesterday that Diane Patrick is suffering from depression and exhaustion, and that the governor would work a flexible schedule for the next few weeks in order to spend more time with her.

"We'll have a staff meeting tomorrow, and my sense is that the governor is going to continue to be active," Murray said in an interview this morning in Worcester, where he was attending the St. Patrick's Day Breakfast and Roast at the Elks Lodge. "... Some of us will help pick up the slack."

Murray said his thoughts are with the Patricks.

"She is an incredibly talented woman, and we look forward to the family doing what needs to be done, and just supporting in any way we can."
