One dead, one injured after fiery crash in Andover

State Police today are investigating a fiery, two-vehicle crash on Interstate 93 in Andover Wednesday night that killed one driver and left another with serious injuries.

A 1993 Cadillac sedan collided head-on with another vehicle at 9:15 on southbound I-93, according to a State Police press release. Both vehicles burst into flames.

The driver of the Cadillac died at the scene, State Police said. The driver of the other vehicle was flown by helicopter to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries.

State Police did not release the names of the drivers. The crash, just north of the intersection with Interstate 495, closed southbound I-93 for 2 1/2 hours. The crash remains under investigation.
