Brockton native killed in Iraq
A sad gathering today in Brockton -- family members are mourning the death of a city native who was killed in Iraq.
Twenty-six-year-old Anthony Palermo Jr., an Army captain, was killed early Friday morning.
Members of Palermo's family say they're devastated but Palermo always wanted to be a soldier and wanted to fight for other people's freedom.
Palermo's cousin, Melinda Griffin, says he was more concerned about taking care of his men and making sure they came home in one piece than about himself.
His family also said he was looking forward to fatherhood. His wife's baby is due at the end of the month and he was scheduled to take a two-week leave in Germany for his son's birth.
