About a dozen Boston-area clergy members are walking with police officers today in the city's Grove Hall neighborhood, stopping and chatting with residents in an effort to forge better ties between the community and police.

Grove Hall is one of several city neighborhoods that have been racked by violence in recent weeks.

A woman who would only give her first name, Connie, talked this morning with Boston police officer James Gunn and Rev. Oscar Pratt, a Catholic priest, on Georgia Street for about 20 minutes.

"This is crazy," she said. "The residents need to come out and support these officers. These kids are taking innocent lives and they have no fear of the community."
