Boston bridge named after long-time council president
By Claire Cummings, Globe Correspondent
Elected officials joined family and friends of James M. Kelly, the late president of the city council, in a ceremony today dedicating a bridge in his name.
Kelly, a longtime South Boston resident who served seven terms as council president, died in January at 66 after battling cancer.
Kelly was a beloved figure among many of his constituents but he was considered a symbol of intolerance by others.
