Chelmsford man killed in Interstate 495 wreck
By Globe Staff
A Chelmsford man was killed early today on Interstate 495 in Haverhill when he lost control of his car, which rolled over and struck a tree, State Police said.
Investigators said speed appeared to be a factor.
John R. Grant, 23, was driving south in a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon about 1 a.m. During the crash, Grand was ejected from the car. He was declared dead at the scene. A passenger in the car, Aja M. Mocherman, 19, of Chelmsford, was transported to Lawrence General Hospital and later flown by helicopter to Brigham and Woman's Hospital with serious injures.
Parts of I-495 south were shut down for two hours while the wreckage was cleared.
