A man was shot multiple times in the head this afternoon on Boyd Street in Dorchester, police said.

The victim, who appeared to be in his late teens, was stabilized at the scene and is expected to survive, according to police spokeswoman Elaine Driscoll. He was shot at about 4:50 p.m. and rushed to Boston Medical Center.

Investigators roped off a large area of Boyd Street near a bicycle that was lying in the middle of the road.

"There something always going on around here," said one neighbor, who was afraid to give his name. "It’s crazy. You think you’re in Iraq."
