Suspect in Boston slaying arrested in Chicopee
By Danielle Capalbo, Globe Correspondent
A suspect in a recent slaying in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood was arrested last night, police said.
Patrick Mayhew, 20, of Dorchester, was arrested in Chicopee at 9:30 p.m. by police from that city and from the Boston Police Fugitive and Apprehension Unit.
Mayhew will be arraigned Monday in Dorchester District Court for his suspected involvement in Thursday's shooting of Joseph Smith, 39, also of Dorchester, said Officer Sharon Dottin, a police spokeswoman.
Police found Smith, 39, on Nottingham Street at 1:40 p.m. Thursday. He was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Boston Medical Center and pronounced dead later that day.
