One killed in Malden crash

An 18 year-old man was killed early this morning after he lost control of his car on the northbound side of Route 1 in Malden.

Elijah B. Meadows of Lynn lost control of his 1995 Ford Probe at approximately 5:55 a.m., striking the barrier in the median, and spinning into the right travel lane, state police said.

Meadows was taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A preliminary investigation indicated Meadows wasn't wearing his seatbelt, police said in a statement.

The accident remains under investigation.
