Police investigate shooting in Dorchester

Boston police this afternoon are investigating the shooting of a man on Nottingham Street in Dorchester, according to a department spokesman.
At 1:40, a person called police to say that a man had been shot in a backyard on Nottingham Street, not far from the Four Corners section of Dorchester, the spokesman said. The extent of the man’s injuries was not immediately available.
The caller told police that the shooter ran into a nearby home. Police arrived on the scene at 1:42 p.m.
The caller described the shooter as a light-skinned, heavy-set black male with braided hair who was wearing jeans and striped white T-shirt. Police have not reported making any arrests.
