Storrow Drive lanes reopened after struck truck is removed
By Globe Staff
All lanes of traffic on westbound Storrow Drive reopened this afternoon after authorities removed a box truck that had become stuck under the Bowker Overpass.
After the truck was removed, engineers from the Division of Conservation and Recreation inspected the overpass and determined that there was no structure damage, said spokeswoman Wendy Fox.
The truck became wedged under the overpass at about 12:45 p.m. State Police initially said that it would take several hours to remove the truck and warned motorists it could cause problems during rush hour. However, work crews were able to remove the truck by 2:30 p.m.
The Bowker Overpass carries traffic from the Fenway onto Storrow Drive.
