Two teenagers, not wearing seat belts, die in separate crashes on Cape Cod

Two 18-year-old women were killed today in separate car crashes on Cape Cod, police said.
The crashes -- in Dennis and Yarmouth -- happened 15 minutes apart. Neither of the teenagers was wearing seat belts, according to emergency responders at the scene of both crashes.
At 5:30 a.m. in Dennis, Kelly Ann Brennan was driving a four-door Mercury Grand Marquis when she slammed into trees off Old Chatham Road, according a statement from the Dennis Fire Department. The Harwich teen was alone in the car, which flipped and broke in half during the wreck.
At 5:45 in Yarmouth, Nicole V. Scleparis was driving a 1998 Subaru Forester east on Route 6 when she lost control and flipped the vehicle. Scleparis, of Plymouth, died at the scene. A preliminary investigation by State Police found that speed was a factor in the crash.
A passenger in the Subaru, Emily M. Sylvia, 18, of Davenport, Fla., was wearing her safety belt and was rushed by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston with serious injuries. Her condition was not available.
