$1 million in grants will help BU train teachers of the deaf
By Caitlin Castello, Globe Correspondent
Boston University has won nearly $1 million in grants to train teachers of the deaf, helping to reduce the national shortage in the field.
The grants, from the state and federal departments of education, go to BU's program in deaf studies.
In the next few years, an estimated 20 percent of teachers of the deaf will retire, according to BU.
