Boston Police have issued a community alert to residents to be on the lookout for a man who posed as a maintenance worker and attacked and sexually assaulted a 67-year-old woman in her home in the South End.

Police said the attack occurred around noon in the victim's home in the area of Clarendon Street and Columbus Avenue.

The suspect knocked on the woman's door and announced himself as a maintenance man. Police said the suspect struggled with the victim and sexually assaulted her.

"Detectives are canvassing the area and looking for the assailant responsible for this vicious attack," said Boston Police Superintendent Bruce Holloway. "In addition, we hope that someone will step forward and provide the information that detectives need to locate and arrest this dangerous suspect."
