False alarm at nuclear plant causes uproar in Amesbury
By Aubrey Gibavic, Globe Correspondent
Amesbury Police said they received hundreds of phone calls after a siren indicating trouble at the Seabrook Station nuclear power plant went off twice.
The first alarm sounded at 11:19 p.m yesterday, followed by the second shortly after midnight. Calls were still coming in this morning, police said.
Seabrook Station officials could not be reached for comment, but the police reported that the alarm system had malfunctioned, and the alarm had nothing to do with an accident at the plant.
Seabrook Station is located in nearby Seabrook, N.H. and has been in operation since 1990.
