Charges dropped against 19-year-old accused of shooting two teens in Dorchester
By Globe Staff
Attempted murder charges against a 19-year-old were dropped today because the Suffolk district attorney's office says the suspect was with a police officer on Saturday night when two teenagers were shot on Glenarm Street in Dorchester.
Tyshawn Woodley had been arrested late Tuesday afternoon by Boston police and charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault with intent to murder. The Dorchester resident had been accused of shooting two boys, 15 and 16, who were taken to Boston Medical Center with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Prosecutors decided not to prosecute the charges when "further investigation" determined that Woodley "was in the presence of a Boston Police officer in the area of the B3 police station on Blue Hill Avenue during the time of the shooting," according to a motion filed today in court. "As a result, the defendant could not have been involved in the shooting incident."
The shooting on Glenarm Street was the first of two Saturday night. About 30 minutes later on Wilmore Street in Mattapan, gunfire hit a 9-year-old girl and two boys, 15 and 16. All three victims were taken to Boston Medical Center, where they were treated for serious injuries. Their conditions were not immediately available.
