Body found in private lake in Palmer
By Emily A. Canal, Globe Correspondent
Palmer police continued their investigation today into the death of a man whose body was discovered Thursday night near the shore of a small private lake.
Police in the Western Massachusetts town received a 911 call at 6 p.m. from a resident who lives on Lake Thompson.
"We found the body right along the shore line, concealed by brush, but not purposely hidden," said Police Chief Robert P. Frydryk of the Palmer Police Department.
The man has not been identified. An autopsy will be performed to determine how he died. From the condition of the body, it appeared that it had been in the water for "a couple of days," Frydryk said.
The body was discovered in the same lake where a man was accused on Tuesday of trying to drown his girlfriend. The private lake is heavily populated.
"There are no public beaches in that area and the only people with access are residents," Frydryk said.
