An 11-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital this afternoon after he fell into a sand hopper used to mix concrete in Fall River, police said.

The extent of the child's injuries was not immediately available. Police said he had a pulse when he was rushed to Children's Hospital in Rhode Island.

Police responded at 2:51 p.m. to Quality Concrete on Tripp Street. Police did not release the boy's name but said that his parents have been notified.

It was not clear how he fell into the sand hopper. A phone message left at Quality Concrete was not immediately returned.
